P. S. Korinko, M. J. Pechersky, G. McKinney, E. G. Estochen, Westinghouse Savannah River Company, Aiken, SC

View in WORD format

Summary: Resistance upset welding is used to attach small diameter machined tubes to small gas vessels. There is interest in determining the residual stresses caused by this weld. The residual stress measurement technique is described, the welding conditions, and the residual stress due to welding at the nominal conditions are presented.
