Summary: This article reviews the recent works about the laser-GMA hybrid welding of aluminium alloys. After an introduction on the interaction mechanisms between a laser beam and an electric arc, the paper depicts the typical welding processes with their characteristics. Finally, the emerging applications are discussed.
