Summary: Thermo-mechanical weld simulations were performed to replicate the thermal cycles typical of austenitic stainless steel GTA welding. Parameters studied included the number and frequency of the thermal cycles, the peak and interpass temperatures, and the effects of varying the weld deposit composition. Measured transformation kinetics agreed qualitatively with prior observations.
