Summary: A rigorous weld solidification model is developed that takes into account non-equilibrium solidification where solute partitioning is affected by local interface velocity and undercooling. The model effectively simulated the solute segregation in the weld pool and accurately predicted liquation cracking in Al-Cu alloy weldments.
