Summary: The effect that the utilization of CO2 and a mixture 80% Ar / 20%CO2 shielding gases, flat and vertical up welding positions, arc energy and 2 or 3 passes per layer have on the all-weld metal microstructure and mechanical properties from an ANSI/AWS A5.29-98 E111T5-K3/K4 metal cored wire, 1.2 mm diameter was studied. Hardness, tensile and impact tests were determined and metallographic study was performed.
