Summary: Submarine welds are susceptible to HACC which impacts the integrity of the welds. A study is being undertaken determining the welding parameters to avoid HACC, the optimum NDE technique, the fracture toughness, corrosion fatigue and Stress Corrosion properties of the weldments, and the residual stress profiles of butt and T butt welds.
