In order to overcome issues such as high raw material cost and relatively poor formability/machinability associated with high strength Ti alloys, the aerospace industry requires introduction of emerging manufacturing technologies that can take advantage of their composite compatibility and concomitant high strength-to-weight ratio. This presentation will show the latest developments using ATI 425® Alloy for the manufacturing of aerospace components by welding and hot forming technologies.  ATI 425® Alloy, a high strength alpha + beta titanium alloy, is regarded as an alternative to Ti 6-4 because its intrinsic attributes offer potential for significant cost-reductions by weight savings and simplification of the fabrication processes.  Manufacturing affordability of welding and SPF processes using this innovative alloy in industrial settings will be discussed.
