Recently, a failure mode of TBCs caused by CMAS (CaO-MgO-Al2O3-SiO2) corrosion has attracted increasing attention. But, the CMAS corrosion of 7YSZ TBCs prepared by PS-PVD has been little investigated, as opposed to conventional APS TBCs and EB-PVD TBCs. In this paper, columnar structured 7YSZ TBCs were produced by PS-PVD. And corresponding CMAS corrosion was studied at the temperature of 1200 ¡æ, in which the CMAS corrosion tests were carried out on the free-standing 7YSZ coatings. In addition, the microstructure evolution and failure mechanism of the columnar 7YSZ ceramic coating were researched. Subsequently, in order to improve the CMAS corrosion resistance of columnar 7YSZ TBCs, an ¦Á-Al2O3 layer was in situ synthesized at the top 7YSZ coating through the action of Al and ZrO2 after vacuum heat treatment, where the Al film was deposited on surface of 7YSZ coating by magnetron sputtering.
