TIMET produces PREP powder in titanium and other alloys that are used in additive manufacture of parts.  One difficulty in progressing powder demand and additive manufacturing is being able to produce mechanical test data to demonstrate capability of the input material and additive process with respect to current production methods.  In the present study, free form laser additive manufacturing was utilized to produce test pieces for mechanical and metallurgical evaluation. Correlation between additive manufacturing conditions and properties of the test parts were investigated. The properties are compared with the requirements in AMS specifications for wrought bar and castings.
