An introduction and review of the induction heat treat process. Factors that influence the induction process including surface area, depth of heating, material, and prior microstructure are discussed. Common induction processes are discussed with and emphasis on isothermal transformations. Case hardening, annealing, normalizing and tempering are reviewed. Single shot, Scan Hardening, Gear hardening and other applications are presented. This presentation is non commercial.
