Global Regulatory Issues

B. Holz, Intertek Testing Services, Richardson, TX

To Follow

Summary: Many countries have specific regulatory requirements that must be met in order for a company to import, sell and place products in use. The scope of these requirements covers both technical and legal aspects. This session will provide the attendees with an overview of regulatory requirements including the intent and history. Also addressed will be specific technical requirements such as product safety and electro-magnetic compatibility as well as legal requirements including language and applicant residence restrictions. An important aspect of this session will deal with product testing, recognition of test reports and Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRAs) and how a company can leverage testing done locally in the US in gaining certifications in other countries.
