General Aviation Landing Gear Spring Failures

Over the years many fractures have occurred in general aviation main land gear springs. These high carbon steel springs are a common feature on many small aircraft. Fracture of which generally results in significant damage to the aircraft but typically only minor injuries and not death to the pilots and passengers. Several case studies of different spring failures will be presented.
