This presentation will discuss typical bulk materials flow problems that arise when using equipment such as storage silos, bins, hoppers, and chutes. During handling and processing, solids flow problems could often occur in various industries, including metals and advanced materials production and handling. In this presentation, first we will identify the problems, discuss the implications of these flow problems, and then discuss how characterization of material flow behavior could help to resolve such problems.

This topic is critical to all industries in which bulk materials are being handled, processed, or refined because greater emphasis is being placed on process optimization, safety, and cost reductions, all of which are often dependent upon reliable bulk materials handling.
