In the aviation industry, materials with high strength-to-weight ratios along with properties such as excellent tensile strength, fatigue strength, and fracture toughness in combination with low density are needed. Present work reports the feasibility of CSAM of a fan rotor shaft with regards to its mechanical properties, dimensions, and specific geometrical complexity to demonstrate the potential of the CSAM process as an innovative process for additive manufacturing. Moreover, it reports Impact Innovations’ newest generation cold spray system with dedicated accessories developed for specific applications.
