The 30 neutron scattering instruments in the neutron scattering program at ORNL include two dedicated engineering beam lines: VULCAN at the Spallation Neutron Source, and HIDRA at the High Flux Isotope Reactor. This presentation will highlight the updated capabilities of these instruments for quantitative mapping of microstructure, chemistry, phase fractions, texture, and strain in engineering materials with complex shapes and under controlled temperature, load, and/or other applied conditions. In addition to hardware improvements, new software at the HIDRA beamline will be presented which facilitates experimental planning, data acquisition, analysis, and visualization.
