Blaze, is a new case hardening process that encompasses the most performance attributes of any treatment or coating on the market. Zero build, hardest surface, thickest wear layer, environmentally friendly, with a very low coefficient of friction, and simple to apply at the OEM’s facility. The benefits are significantly better wear characteristics at a cost-effective price, no galling or brittleness and reduced corrosion. Can be applied inside and / or outside of complex components. All the residual material is "green" recycled or repurposed.

Hardness of 1800 Knoop up to 0.006" deep coefficient of friction 0.09. Can be selectively applied inside and outside of complex parts. it is a great candidate for a hard chrome replacement as well as more costly HVOF. Once the surface has been converted you still have the option of standard heat treat for the core of the component without damaging the conversion layer. The process is most effective on simple medium carbon steels. In many cases the component can be made from a less expensive material with a virtual cost offset.

The objective is for the process to be done at the OEM to reduce lead times. Currently being used extensively in the down hole application of Oil and Gas industry with a very defined benefit matrix.
