Failures can be often traced to events which disrupt the manufacturing process. In the past three years, the COVID-19 epidemic, supply chain disruptions, worker shortages and the political environment have resulted in major trauma to manufacturing. Even though these specific events are a bit unique they can be related to other such disruptions events such as 9-11, wars, devastating storms which impact manufacturing quality. In this discussion, we will attempt to highlight how disruptive events can impact manufacturing and hence reflect on the failure types experienced in subsequent years.
