Laser power bed fusion (LPBF), one of the main processes of additive manufacturing (AM), has been successful in fabricating complex metal components with geometries not readily possible with conventional manufacturing. Wrought aluminum copper (Al-Cu) alloys are alloys recognized for cryogenic applications. Combining the new geometries enabled by LPBF and their good low temperature mechanical properties could open new performance metrics in this field. This presentation will focus on describing the mechanical properties (indentation, monotonic and dynamic) evaluated in cryogenic conditions to determine the metrics of LPBF processed A20X. The data will be compared with existing properties of existing materials for benchmarking purposes.
