Session 4: Panel Discussion 1: Strategic Development in FA. What Can We Get From Other Technical Sources?
Location: Meeting Room J1-J2 (San Jose McEnery Convention Center)
(Please check final room assignments on-site).
Session Description: As semiconductor technology moves into the sub 100 nm regime, FA is faced with new challenges that cannot be solved without new tools and new techniques. So far FA has adapted technologies from other disciplines. For example, the photon emission microscope is still using cameras from astronomy. There are many other techniques that FA can adopt such as AFM, SQUID ... which are not necessarily originally dedicated to FA. How can we better use these external skills? Should it remain part of spontaneous technical curiosity of FA lab staff or could it be more organized?
