Usage and demand for Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) continues to increase in industry, given the unique capabilities of flexibility and permanence it provides in applications. In order to deliver meaningful failure analysis results confidently, some basic understanding of NVM memories is critical for the failure analyst. This tutorial will discuss general principles of NVM memory, and provide case studies from various NVM arrays to illustrate successful failure analysis techniques.
Learning Objectives: • Understand basic principles of Non-Volatile Memory • Understand approaches and possibilities for characterization of failure • Understand characterization results in context of failure • Execute on analysis of failure to root cause
