Session 16: Counterfeit Electronics Risks and Mitigation
Location: Malachite Showroom (InterContinental Hotel Dallas)
(Please check final room assignments on-site).
Session Description: A counterfeit electronic part is one whose identity has been deliberately misrepresented. With the growing complexity of todays electronics supply chain, a number of suspect parts are finding their way to the final assembly and leading to significant losses. In addition to losses to legitimate producers for the components, equipment failures or malfunctions can present situations that cause mission failures, health and safety concerns and could jeopardize national security. Papers in this session will discuss topics such as:
Root cause failure analysis of counterfeit electronic components
Inspections tools and techniques for detecting counterfeit parts
Proven methodologies for reducing the chance of becoming a victim of counterfeit parts
Responses from the FA community on design for counterfeit prevention
Application of die or package level authentication techniques
Trade and business issues involved with failures caused by use of counterfeit electronic parts
