Recently, new Fe-based compositions showed an amorphous structure and can be made very inexpensively from pig iron.  Previously, these alloy powders are made and sprayed via HVOF.  They showed high hardness and moderate wear resistance compared to existing Ni-based amorphous alloys.  In this study, we have used these alloys powders with WC and CrC to improve wear resistance using laser spraying.  The microstructures and wear performance of these coatings are compared with laser sprayed coatings of Ni-based alloy powders. Also, industrial application possibilities of Fe-base amorphous alloys powders by laser spraying and HVOF spraying methods are discussed.
