Poly-ether-ether-ketone(PEEK) is one of engineering thermoplastic materials that has been increasingly used for many industrial applications due to its excellent properties. In this article, the flame spraying technique was used to deposit PEEK coating on the stainless substrate. The as-sprayed coating presents a high porosity and bad mechanical properties. A laser treatment was chosen to remelt the as-sprayed polymer coating to get a dense coating. CO2 and Nd:YAG laser were employed to remelt the as-sprayed coating. The microstructure of remelted coating obtain by two different laser was characterized. The mechanical and tribological performance of the remelted coatings was studied, to make a comparison with the as-sprayed coating.
