Several studies have been conducted to investigate the kinetic spraying of ceramics during the past few years. In some cases, ceramics were deposited on metal and ceramic substrate successfully to the thickness from tens to hundreds, in spite of their brittleness, but the deposition mechanism has not been elucidated clearly yet. In this study, as a part of figuring out the deposition mechanism of ceramics, the impact behavior change of kinetic sprayed Al2O3 particles according to the process conditions was investigated. Al2O3 particles were deposited to some degree in highly narrow range of process conditions, although most of them were not deposited in the majority of cases. The successfully deposited Al2O3 showed some traces of spalling with a slight plasticity.
