This study evaluates the surface protection of the wall of the combustion boiler (incinerator) of third pass using the arc spray technology of Eutronic Arc Spray Gun 4 HFH. It was carried out in the waste incinerator ZEVO Plzeò (Czech Republic) in 2023. Coatings labeled BTW 58, METCO 8294, TAFALOY 71T and Metcoloy 4 were sprayed on the base material of the membrane wall with a total area of 3.2 m2. Prior to the coating deposition, the surface material was blasted to the surface finish SA 3 with roughness profile of 75÷100 µm. Coating materials were applied both with and without a binding intermediate layer (Metco 8450). Further, the high-temperature ceramic coating systems Fireside and Tubearmor were also applied. Wear tests were conducted expository (on site) directly in the third pass / move. After a year of exposure in a real waste incineration boiler environment, all samples were evaluated in terms of overall condition, wear and level of scale formation. The results show that, in this type of boiler, the most effective surface protection materials proved to be BTW 58 and 71T, ideally in combination with Fireside ceramic coating.
