Summary: AFM is a suitable tool of analysis on the filler dispersion at microscopic level. For the rubber samples with good dispersion, the conditions for appropriate AFM observation have been established. The image analysis can extract several quantitative parameters. The filler fraction in AFM images is well related to the loading in the recipe, but the quantitative correlation is influenced by several factors.
