ISEC8: Microscale Coating Technologies
Location: Governors I (Radisson Riverfront Hotel)
(Please check final room assignments on-site).
Session Description: This session provides a forum for fundamental and applied research involving micro/nanoscale tribological phenomena. The research encompasses nanoscale tribological materials/coatings design, as well as investigations that elucidate physical and chemical phenomena associated with tribology at small length scales. Research topics include tribology of self-assembled monolayers and ultra-thin films/coatings, adaptive and self-healing tribological coatings and surface/coating degradation mechanisms. Tribological investigations of micro/nano-electromechanical systems (MEMS/NEMS) and magnetic storage media are also included in this session. These topics provide the foundation for realizing technologically relevant nanotribological systems while offering insight into designing tribologically superior systems at larger scales.
