S069-004 The Outcome of a Pilot Training Course in Neuropsychology in China

Xin Yu, Beijing Medical University, Beijing Medical University, Institute of Mental Health, Beijing, China

30 participants regarded as the potential collaborators in dementia research came from 15 provinces in China. Chinese psychiatrists and neurologists reviewed the curriculum in advance in order to meet the needs of participants. All PowerPoint slides were translated into Chinese, CD-disks, which included all teaching materials were provided to Chinese physicians. Each part of neuropsychology teaching was followed by clinically orientated neuropsychiatric lectures; therefore, the courses were more appealing to clinicians. Tea breaks, lunch meetings, welcome banquets, and barbecues offered faculty and participants plenty of opportunities in exchanging ideas and comments. This neuropsychology course benefited Chinese psychiatrists and neurologists in two ways: first, they begin to be aware of the importance of neuropsychology and neuropsychologists in clinical work. Second, they found the broad collaborating possibility in many areas between psychiatrists and neurologists.

Through this course, some local network was established afterwards to mount studies on neuropsychiatric disorder, with a neuropsychological approach.
