Jennie Ward Robinson, Medical and Scientific Affairs, Medical and Scientific Affairs, Alzheimer's Association, Chicago, IL, USA

Objective: As the general population ages, similar patterns exists within communities of color in the United States and Internationally. A salient concern is the persistent dearth of knowledge about diseases of aging within communities of color, and the continuing claims of difficulty in conducting investigations outside the major population.

This presentation will examine the rationale for investigating Alzheimer's disease within communities of color, and will highlight preliminary recommendations underpinning strategies for conducting dementia and age-linked research cross-culturally. Factors of concern from investigators and from families will be highlighted and presented for consideration.
