PB-090 Estrogen Replacement Therapy and Cognitive Function in Postmenopausal Women

Objective: We evaluated the effects of estrogen replacement therapy on cognitive function in postmenopausal women.

Design: cross sectional, clinical, and control group stydy

Materials and Methods: 30 Estrogen users and 30 non-users participated. They were all menopausal for at least 1 year and had 12 or more education years. Digit span, Digit symbol, Similarity test, SRT(Selective Reminding Test),and K-BNT(Boston Naming Test-Korean version) were used for cognitive function and BDI(Beck Depression Inventory) was used for depression.

Results: Estrogen users scored higher than non users in Digit span(forward), Similarity test, and SRT(delayed recall). Both group had no significant difference in BDI.

Conclusion: Estrogen replacement therapy may help postmenopausal women to maitain cognitive function.
