PD-018 A Systematic Review of the Evidence for Behavior Rating Scales as Treatment

Objective:To present the findings of a Cochrane Collaboration systematic review of the effectiveness of using rating scales for the assessment of behavioural problems.

Design:Systematic Review of randomized controlled clinical trials in dementia using behaviour rating scales systematically as an outcome measure.

Materials and Methods: Cochrane Collaboration (CDCIG) review

Results: The effectiveness of behaviour rating scales in reducing observed behaviour problems will be presented. Comparisons between scales will be illustrated.

Conclusion: The use of behaviour rating scales in research involves an intervention effect which may obscure the effectiveness of the approach to treatment being measured
