S076-003 Video Interview and Hints

Charles E. Wilkins, Geriatric Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, OH, USA

A 30 minute house call interview of an elderly caregiver of an advanced Alzheimer's disease patient is presented for abstract.

The video interview outlines advice from an experienced caregiver who discusses her daily and nightly coping skills dealing with a wide variety of behavior problems she confronts with her homebound, frail, demented husband. The tape is an outstanding effective teaching tool for doctors in training, medical students, nurses and families and leaves a profoundly touching message.

This video gives practical and helpful hints as well as giving hope. It may bring tears to the eyes and could be considered a video equivlent to the "36 hour day". We present it for abstract and your review.
