Session 2A: Laser Technologies for Manufacturing Medical Devices
Location: Governors Hall II, III & IV (Radisson Riverfront Hotel)
(Please check final room assignments on-site).
Session Description: SESSION BACKGROUND: Improved productivity can be obtained with proper utilization of current laser welding/marking technologies for medical device applications. SESSION FOCUS: This session will address novel laser machining technologies of miniaturized metallic components for interventional devices, laser marking systems and resulting potential corrosion issues, optimum laser welding gas shielding for pure titanium, and minimizing solidification cracking in pulsed laser welded stainless steels. SESSION TAKEAWAYS: The session provides an overview of the current state of laser processing for medical device manufacturing and the resulting effects on corrosion properties, mechanical properties, surface roughness and chemistry, weld solidification, and process reliability.
