S061-006 Treatment of Older Patients with Behavioral Problems in CL Settings

Objective To describe special patients and problems encountered in consultation-liaison old age psychiatry settings

Design materials and methods

Review of existing literature

Results Patients labelled as “difficult to like”, “undesirable”, and “bed blockers” may have specific problems such as behaviour disturbance, suicidal ideation, poor treatment compliance, poor oral intake, mental incapacity, squalor, neuropsychiatric complications of prescribed medication and/or substance abuse.

Conclusion Complex problems require detailed assessment and multidisciplinary management approaches.
