Conclusion:

The presentation shows how the supra-specialty was created and has been developed in the last three years in Romania. There are presented the initial main components and characteristics of the educational program, the evolution of the curriculum content, the major influence of the meetings on psychiatry of the elderly organized at the initiative of EAGP and WHO Collaborating Centre for Old Age Psychiatry in Lausanne. This program was organised with the large support of the WHO Regional Office for Europe and WPA and with the active participation of high specialists in all professional aspects of Old Age Psychiatry. There are discussed the specific needs for education and for developing services using in the best way the limited resources available.
