S036-003 The Role of the SRI in Training MDs for Careers in Academic Medicine

The talk will focus on the career path and research training available for physicians. The talk will highlight the experience of one SRI alumnus with a focus on how the SRI provided structural research training and guidance not available in general medical school education or residency education. The talk will highlight the importance of intensive weeklong experience at the SRI but also the "after effects" including increased interactions with NIH program staff, mentors, and colleagues for networking, reviewing, and collaboration.
