Summary:
A novel method of fabrication of all-metal probes for scanning force microscopy was developed. The motivation for this work was to develop probes and method of fabricating them, that could be used in friction experiments with many pairs of materials. The presented method use only simple and cheap processes and require fewer steps than previously described methods. Moreover, it can be easily modified to manufacture probes of different materials and with different tip shapes. Probes manufactured with this method are made of solid metal and in one piece, which makes them perfect for investigation of friction in nanoscale and microscale.
